Our Story

When John encountered a patient in septic shock, he discovered a forgotten ureteral stent implanted by another physician and that had encrusted with the body. Removing a stent on time takes 15 minutes at a cost of $2000. Instead, the patient experienced a life-threatening condition and multiple surgeries at a cost of about $30,000. A lawsuit against the physician who implanted it could have cost about $300,000.

But, the problem is bigger than ureteral stents: all doctors have trouble getting their patients to comply with their care plans. This problem stems from a lack of efficient tracking tools and patients that are not always engaged in their own care.

Thanks to the financial and advisory support of our friends at Fast Forward Medical Innovation and at Michigan Medicine, Eebu Health was born to improve patient follow-up care through better tracking tools and patient engagement.
